CANTON -- More than 20 volunteers helped St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Shop move to a new location.
Manager Carolyn Shelmidine said the shop is now at Main Street and Riverside Drive in Canton next to the Church and Community Program.
"I would say we had at least 20 volunteers," she said
The store reopened Monday after being closed for a few months. Shelmidine said the store extended its hours and will now be open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
"Now that we are located next to the Church and Community we thought we should keep similar hours." she said.
Shelmidine said she thinks the new location will be a positive for both organizations since customers will likely visit both places when they are in the area.
"We will get some of their customers and our customers will probably go over there," she said.
Shelmidine said the move wouldn't have been possible without help from members of St. Mary's Church in Canton.
"I want to give a special thanks to Ed White he helped us remodel the whole place. He probably has more than 150 hours in here," she said. "I also want to thank all of the volunteers who helped us move."
Shelmidine said she looked forward to seeing familiar faces in the shop.
"We want to thank our customers for their patience," she said.
