OGDENSBURG -- The U.S. River Class Marine Vessel Calumet returned to the Port of Ogdensburg Sunday to deliver approximately 18,100 tons of road salt for Cargill Incorporated.
The delivered salt will be used throughout the North Country’s counties, municipalities, and private firms to ensure safe winter driving conditions for travelers.
The Grand River Navigation-owned 630-foot long U.S. flagged vessel will return to Cleveland to be reloaded and arrive back at Ogdensburg on Dec. 24 for its last shipment of Cargill road salt this shipping season.
“Cargill is a new port customer and an excellent addition to the facility.” said Authority Executive Director Wade A. Davis. “We are delighted to welcome the Calumet to the Port of Ogdensburg”.
