POTSDAM -- The 17th annual Hobble Gobble Prediction Run and Walk raised and donated $14,500 to the Potsdam Holiday Fund and other local charities.
The event, held on Nov. 22 hosted 570 participants representing 89 communities in New York state and Ontario, Canada.
The prediction run-walk typically draws around 500 participants and raises about $10,000 each year.
After registration runners fill out a predicted time the day of the race at West Potsdam Bingo Hall, Blanchard Road.
“The predicted run allows people to compete at their own pace and everyone has a chance to win,” he said.
There is live entertainment as well as three or four turkeys in cages on the course.
“The majority of the money will go to the holiday find and all neighborhood centers will receive a portion as well,” Loucks said.
The 12 participants who most closely predicted their time won a turkey and a trophy.
