More than 1,600 National Grid electric customers in St. Lawrence County have lost power since about 11 a.m. today, as strong winds and heavy rain hit the area..
South of Gouverneur, inn an area stretching from Talcville and Balmat, including the hamlet of Fowler, more than 600 National Grid customers lost power at about 11 a.m.
DeKalb, 711 customers reportedly lost power at about 11:30 a.m.
East of Canton, 57 customers lost power at about 11 a.m.
In South Colton, 147 customers were without power as of about 11 a.m.
Along the Parishville-Southville Road, 109 customers lost power at about 11 a.m.
At last check, the power distribution company estimted service would be restored to those areas shortly after 2 p.m.
