National Grid reports it has restored electric power to most of the roughly 1,300 customers in Potsdam who lost power this afternoon, including SUNY Potsdam.

That report came at about 1:45 p.m., about an hour earlier than the company had estimated they would have power back up.

The college said power was restored there after a downed power line cut delivery to customers in the area. There was particular concern there because students are taking finals today.

About 150 customers in the town and a handful in the village of Potsdam were still without electricity, at last report. Their power should be back up by 4:30 p.m., National Grid said.

About 40 customers around Canton also had interruptions to their power delivery, but that seems to have been remedied, according to the National Grid site.

The power distribution company said about 900 customers in the Town of Potsdam and 367 customers in the village had lost power. Radio stations WPDN and B93 were not on the air and the Kinney Drug Store along Maple Street was dark.

Customers report experiencing unusual fluctuations at about the time the power went out.

About 100 customers in Lisbon were also without power, but the company reports restoration there.

More recently, about 60 customers in Macomb reportedly had power interrupted.

The Massena Electric Department reports no interruptions in their service area.
