MASSENA -- John Byrns, a Republican running for the 116th Assembly District made a visit to the Massena Village Board of Trustees at their Thursday meeting.
"Just thought I'd stop in and meet everybody, I'll be up in the area campaigning," he said.
Byrns, who hails from Cape Vincent, praised the board for their work to share services with the town and school board.
"Even if the folks in Albany might not agree, I think we're doing a great job here," Byrns said.
Mayor James Hidy said anyone seeking an office that represents Massena are welcome to introduce themselves at village meetings, regardless of political affiliation.
Addie Russell, a Democrat from Theresa holds the 116th Assembly seat. The district includes Massena, Ogdensburg, Louisville, Waddington, Lisbon, Oswegatchie, Morristown, Hammond, Canton, Potsdam, Rossie, Macomb and DePeyster. It also covers northern Jefferson County, excluding Watertown.
