$10,000 St. Lawrence NYSARC fundraiser winner chosen in Potsdam Friday night

POTSDAM -- St. Lawrence NYSARC drew the winners in their 33rd annual fundraiser Friday at the Potsdam Elks Lodge, including the $10,000 grand prize winner, Kristen Karem of Worcester, Mass.

The agency sold 4,258 certificates for a gross profit of $36,050.

Other winners inclucde:

• 2nd Prize: Aaron Jarvis, Norfolk, won a one week getaway to Lake Ozonia from Dave and Denice Button, Canton $2,050 value

• 3rd Prize: Carl Groulx, 3.63k london blue topaz and diamond necklace by Carbino's Jewelers, Ogdensburg, $1,320 value

• 4th Prize: Ruth Farnsworth, Westport, laptop computer from Advanced Business Systems, Watertown, $1,119 value

• 5th Prize: Kevin Hurley, Edwards, $500 hand made quilt by Gouverneur Roofing and Sheet Metal

The Fund Raiser was hosted by WWNYTV’s Jeff Cole, the anchor of 7 News This Morning and 7 News at Noon.

Proceeds from the Fund Raiser will support Dodge Pond, the area’s only fully accessible camp designed specifically for people with disabilities. Each year, more than 300 people enjoy vacationing in an environment specially equipped and staffed for their individual needs.

St. Lawrence NYSARC CEO and Executive Director Daphne Pickert, expressed appreciation for the community’s support. “Our fundraising efforts are only successful because of support from local business partners with prize donations and from community members who purchase tickets,” Pickert said. “Thanks to all of you, we can offer a safe, outdoor experience suited for people with disabilities, even during these challenging economic times.”

Sponsors for the event include Kinney Drugs Foundation, Team Blevins, Casella Waste, and Tracy’s Used Cars.
