OGDENSBURG -- Assemblywoman Addie J. Russell was instrumental in securing a $10,000 grant from the NYS Department of State for the fort association to have Revolutionary War and Native Village panels with text and images designed, produced and installed.

The grant will also include minor decorative landscaping at the base of the monument. In addition to these most recent panels, the others explaining the development of Fort de La Présentation from 1749, the 1760 Battle of the Thousand Islands, and the Anglo-Canadian attack on Ogdensburg Feb. 22 1813 are grouped around the Picquet Monument on Lighthouse Point.

Russell stand next to an interpretive panel at the Picquet Monument describing the Revolutionary War history of Fort Oswegatchie, the English successor to Fort de La Présentation.
