POTSDAM – A Canton motorist was injured Monday night when her car went off the road and overturned after she tried to avoid a deer, according to St. Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies.
Teresa M. Hooper, 22, of 15 Janes Rd., Canton, was extricated from her 2005 Saturn Ion by members of the Potsdam Volunteer Fire Department and Potsdam Rescue Squad following the 8:05 p.m. crash on the South Canton Road, deputies said.
She was then transported to Canton-Potsdam Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries to the neck and back, deputies said.
Deputies said she lost control of her vehicle after trying to avoid a deer and went off the left shoulder. Her vehicle came to rest against some small trees and a fence after overturning, deputies said.
She was charged with failure to keep right and is to face the charge in Potsdam Town Court at a later date, deputies said.
