CANTON – A traffic stop by state police in the village of Canton Wednesday morning has resulted in an arrest and the seizure of at least 10 pounds of marijuana.
Luis R.Ayala, 22, of Binghamton, was charged by state police with carrying 10 pounds or more of marijuana.
Troopers say they stopped Ayala at 11:44 a.m. Wednesday along US 11 after allegedly observing him speeding.
A subsequent investigation allegedly discovered that he was driving without a valid license and was carrying a substantial quantity of pot in his vehicle.
He is charged with felony criminal possession of marijuana, a misdemeanor count of aggravated unlicensed operation, and speeding.
His status is reported as "held."
