BUFFALO, N.Y.—SUNY Potsdam swimmers Tyler Zapisek (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) and Richie Zimmerman (Victor, N.Y./Victor) swam to spots on the All-State University of New York Athletic Conference teams with their performances at the SUNYAC Championships in Buffalo last weekend. Zapisek garnered a spot on the first team, while Zimmerman claimed his place on the second team.
Zapisek's swam to a SUNYAC title in the 100 Fly with a time of 51.32 after breaking Potsdam's record in the preliminaries, finishing in 51.19. The sophomore was also a runner-up in the 50 Free with a time of 21.27. Zimmerman, a senior, swam to a second place finish in the 100 Breaststroke with an NCAA B cut time of 57.41. Zimmerman was also second team all-conference last season.
The duo also combined with junior Dan Costa (Spencerport, N.Y./Spencerport) and freshman Ricky Blackburn (Cicero/Cicero-North Syracuse) to set program records at the championships in the 200 (1.35.76) and 400 medley relays (3:30.20) and the 200 free relay (1:26.30).
