Canton, NY - In the first meeting between St. Lawrence and the Clarkson University Men's Basketball team, junior Conrad Zampier scored a career-high 29 points to lead the Golden Knights to the win. Zampier only scored four points against the Saints on Wednesday, but three of them came on a 3-pointer on the team's final possession to lift the Green and Gold to a 58-57 road victory at St. Lawrence.

The Golden Knights improved to 9-15 overall and 6-9 in the Liberty League, while St. Lawrence's regular-season title hopes took a hit as the team fell to 13-10 andConrad Zampier scored a career-high 29 points to lead the Golden Knights to the win. 9-6. Clarkson closes out the regular season on Friday evening when the team hosts Skidmore College.

The first 13 minutes of Wednesday's game saw neither team get more than a possession's advantage, and it wasn't until the later portion of the first half that St. Lawrence finally started edging out somewhat with its modest lead. By the conclusion of the half, Clarkson was within one (33-32), but St. Lawrence began the second stanza with a 10-2 lead to claim a nine-point advanage, the biggest of the game. Clarkson spent the next six minutes chopping away at the deficit, pulling to within two on a Derek Hart layup at 8:41, within one on a 3-pointer by Mike Haydak at 7:54, and taking its first lead since early in the first half on a Malaquias Canery layup with 6:27 to go. St. Lawrence responded with a mini-run that was capped off by a Kyle Edwards 3-pointer with 3:21 to go, allowing the Saints to reclaim the lead at 56-53. A few minutes later, Willie Zachery hit the first of two free throws to give St. Lawrence a two-point lead (57-55). However, Zachery missed his second free throw and Canery grabbed the rebound for Clarkson, giving the Knights a chance to tie or regain the lead with one shot. That's where Zampier connected, as Felix Abongo found the junior guard on the perimeter for a 3-pointer, and Zampier nailed his one and only shot from the field in the game with just eight seconds to go. St. Lawrence set up a play for Edwards, but his 3-pointer at the buzzer was off the mark and again Zampier was in the right place, corralling the loose ball to allow the Knights to escape with the win.

Derek Hart finished with a game-high 15 points, shooting 7-for-13 from the floor, and added in seven rebounds and three blocks for the Golden Knights. Zampier was consistent with four points, four boards, and four assists, and Felix Abongo performed all over the court with six points, 11 rebounds, six assists and a block. Clarkson also received 22 of the team's 58 points from the bench. Kyle Edwards led St. Lawrence with 12 points, but he also produced five assists and five steals, while Riley Naclerio contributed 11 points, five boards and three blocks. Willie Zachery added in 10 points, six rebounds and a pair of assists.
