Union, NJ – Jake Sutton scored a pair of goals but a nine goal second quarter carried host Kean University to a 21-4 win v. the SUNY Canton men's lacrosse team on Saturday.
The Cougars jumped out to a 4-1 lead after one quarter and led 13-11 at intermission. The Roos (7-4) tallied three second-half goals leading to the 21-4 final.
Dante Coco and Josh Yelvington scored the other Canton goals, while Hunter Yerdon recorded a game-high eight ground balls. Brandon Schmidt added five ground balls and two caused turnovers defensively.
Kody Kocsis made 12 saves in the start and added three ground balls and three caused turnovers, while Justin LaDuke made three stops over the final nine minutes. Thomas Francy made five saves in the win for the Cougars.
Tyler Roberto and Jake Frankovits led Kean with two goals and two assists each, while Scott Royster added three goals.
The men's lacrosse team is back in action on Wednesday when it visits the College of Mount Saint Vincent at 4 p.m.
