St. Lawrence University's offense couldn't get it going against Yale for the second consecutive night and the Bulldogs ended the Saint season with a 3-0 win in game two of their ECAC quarterfinal series at Ingalls Rink in New Haven Saturday night.

The Saints, who scored the first goal of the series in the first period of game one, surrendered nine consecutive Yale goals without scoring another and were scoreless on Saturday despite 17 minutes of power play time in the game. SLU finishes its season 18-16-4 while Yale, now 18-10-3 advances to next weekend's ECAC semifinals in Atlantic City.

While St. Lawrence appeared sharper than the first period of game one, the result was much the same as Yale came out of the first 20 minutes with a one-goal lead and a sizeable margin in shots on goal.

Yale scored the only goal of the first period with just eight seconds to go on a power play. Tommy Fallen took the shot from the center point after taking a pass from Kenny Agostino and is snuck past a screened Matt Weninger, who had a Yale player parked in his lap at 17:58. The Saints did have two power plays in the first period, but while they sent shots toward net, they did not get many through to the goalie as Yale came out of the first period with a 14-4 advantage in shots on goal.

Yale's power play cashed in again in the second period, scoring for the second time in three tries when junior center Jesse Root collected a rebound off a good save by Weninger on a shot by Andrew Miller and put the puck back into the net for his ninth of the year at 14:18. The Saints had a five minute major power play early in the period and had 13 minutes of power play time in the first 30 minutes of the game, but could not come up with a goal.

Yale added an insurance goal 7:09 into the third when Antoine Laganiere went end to end with a delayed penalty being indicated against the Saints and tucked his 14th of the year past Weninger. The Saints had one more power play chance to break the scoring drought and had a couple of opportunities, but Weninger had to come up with the biggest save on the power play, stopping Josh Balch on a shorthanded breakaway.

The Bulldogs kept a lid on the Saint's high-scoring line of Greg Carey, Kyle Flanagan and Jeremy Wick, shutting them out for the series and allowing them only a total of eight shots on goal on Saturday despite a lot of ice time both five on five and on power plays.

Weninger finished with 33 saves and 61 in five periods of action in the series while Yale's Jeff Malcolm needed only 17 for the shutout.
