Freshman Christine Wright (Watertown, NY) made a splash in her first collegiate game for the Clarkson University Women's Lacrosse team, and the newcomer was chosen as the Liberty League Rookie of the Week on Monday for her performance against Potsdam State.
Wright, a 5-4 midfielder, was the second-leading scorer for the Golden Knights in their 15-9 victory over Potsdam State last Wednesday, scoring four goals and assisted on two others. Clarkson will take on Utica College on Friday to open up the home portion of the schedule, and then will face Keuka College on Sunday.
Gaining notice on the Liberty League Honor Roll were seniors Katie VanDeValk (Baldwinsville, NY) of the women's lacrosse team and Ryan Cole (Orchard Park, NY) of the men's lacrosse team. VanDeValk had seven points (5 goals, 2 assists) against the Bears, while Cole made 28 saves for a .667 save percentage over two games last week for the Knights.
