Schenectady, NY – It took a last second goal in regulation and another in overtime to finally unseat the Clarkson University Women's Lacrosse team from its winning streak, but Union College wrestled away an 8-7 win against the Golden Knights on Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Knights fell to 9-2 overall and 3-1 in the Liberty League as their nine-game winning streak came to an end, while Union remained unbeaten in conference play at 4-0 and moved to 7-2 overall.

Senior Christine Wright didn't waste any time in getting her individual achievement out of the way, as she assisted on Clarkson's first goal by Ashley Flick and then scored the second to become the Golden Knights' all-time leading scorer, surpassing Alyssa Cristaldi (262, 2010-2013). Taylor Collins then added a third goal to give the Knights a 3-0 lead halfway through the first half. Union rattled off three goals in a stretch of six minutes to tie the game, but Wright found the net at 5:40 and Emma Jeffery scored at 2:04 to give Clarkson a 5-3 edge at the break.

Wright scored two more unassisted goals in the first 14 minutes of the second half to push the Knights' advantage to 7-4. However, that was the end of Clarkson's scoring as the Dutchwomen did just enough to keep the Knights at bay. Union pulled to within one with just under 10 minutes to go, but Clarkson then held the Dutchwomen down and appeared ready to gain the weekend sweep. With only six seconds remaining in the game, Union's Maggie Comiskey was awarded a free-position shot, and she converted with three seconds to go to send the game to overtime. From there, the golden goal won, and Jackie Hagopian scored her third goal of the game with 49 seconds left in the extra session.

Union outshot Clarkson 21-19, but the Dutchwomen had seven free-position shots to Clarkson's one. Wright finished with a game-high five points on four goals and an assist and Flick added a goal and an assist. Collins and Jeffrey each scored once and Lynette Smith produced three groundballs. Samantha Gladd made six saves in 64:11 in the Clarkson crease. For Union, Hagopian scored three times, Comiskey added two goals and an assist and Jessica Farland contributed a goal and two assists. Paige Smith scooped up six groundballs and Jen Hughes made six saves for the Dutchwomen.
