Women's Swimming 6th at Liberty League Championship

Six top-10 finishes and a third-place relay team paced the St. Lawrence women's swim team to a sixth-place finish on the final day of the Liberty League Championship meet in Rochester, N.Y. on Saturday afternoon.

The Saints finished the two-day event with 623 points. The University of Rochester won the meet wit 1733.5, while RPI was second with 1544.5.

Gabriella Marchetti had the highest individual finish on Saturday for St. Lawrence, taking fifth in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 18:04.75. Taylor McClung was seventh in the same event (18:24.84).

Marchetti earned half of the top-10 spots and helped the Saints to 71 points on day two with her performance in the 1650 as well as taking sixth in the 200-yard butterfly (2:13.63) and eighth in the 400 individual medley (4:50.53).

First-year Christina Flechner led the group of five Saints' swimmers competing in the 100 freestyle with a time of 54.81 to finish sixth. Senior Becca Raab was 10th (55.37) and Madeline Holodnik was a tenth of a second behind her to finish 13th. Meg Musser and Claire Anderson finished 26th and 27th, respectively.

Heather Foley recorded the other top-10 finish of the meet for the Saints with a time of 1:01.06 in the 100 fly for 10th place.

The Saints started day two with Musser, Marchetti, Foley and Raab combining for a 1:56.96 time in the 200-yard medley relay, while Raab, Holodnik, McClung and Felchner took third in the 400 free relay to close out the meet in 3:41.24 and add 52 points to the team total.
