First-year Kaleigh White scored in the 35th minute to help lift the St. Lawrence women's soccer team to its first win over No. 25 Union College in over a decade. With the 1-0 shutout, the Saints improve to 7-3-0 overall and 1-1-0 in Liberty League play.

It is also the first time the Saints have scored on the Dutchwomen since 2010. In 2011, the teams played to a 0-0 draw and the Saints fell 1-0 in each of the last two seasons.

"I couldn't be more proud of the team after today's performance," Head Coach Franco Bari said. "The team did everything expected of them defensively, our group attack was well played and besides a few missed opportunities, we earned the result we were looking for."

The Saints held Union to just eight shots in the contest, with only three on goal. The back line of Amy Reunert, Hannah Calvelli, Adriana Morra and Laura Topf also did well to contain the Liberty League's leading scorer, Whitney Bickford, who did not register a scoring attempt on Friday afternoon.

"Union is an extremely aggressive team," Bari added. "We absorbed the pressure well and Kaleigh's goal was outstanding."

The Saints lone scoring play started with a pass by first-year Katie Stames to classmate Hannah Merriam who was streaking down the left sideline. Merriam beat out a Union defender to find space and hit a high cross to the opposite side of the field to an unmarked White at the top of the box. White had time to settle and fire a high shot into the right corner past Union goalkeeper Allison Brustowicz for her fourth goal of the season.

Kelsey West earned her seventh win of the year in net for the Saints, making five saves, including two from six yards out on a set piece early in the second half.

The Saints will return to MacAllaster Field for a 2 p.m. contest against RPI as part of the Power of Pink campaign Saturday afternoon.
