St. Lawrence University's men's golf team trimmed six strokes off its opening round, but had to settle for a seventh place finish at the NYU Spring Invitational on Sunday.
The Saints followed Saturday's team score of 311 with a 305 on Sunday and the 616 total was two strokes behind sixth place Skidmore and three behind fifth place Trinity. Williams won the tournament with a 590 total with Middlebury second at 591. Rochester was third at 606 with RPI fourth at 610.
Junior Jack Whelan led the Saints, finishing tied for sixth as an individual. He shot a four-over 75 on Sunday and finished with a 147 total.
Brandon Lustig finished tied for 27th, matching Whelan's 75 on Sunday and shooting 155 overall while Jack Reardon was tied for 37th after a 76 on Sunday for a 157 total. Brandy Garrett and Jake Danforth tied for 42nd with 159 totals.
