Brooke Webster scored both of St. Lawrence's goals, including the game-winner with just one minute, six seconds remaining in the third period to lift the fifth-ranked St. Lawrence University women's hockey team to a 2-1 win over Dartmouth at Thompson Arena in Hanover, N.H., on Saturday afternoon.
The late goal came off assists from Webster's linemates, Hannah Miller and Kennedy Marchment. Miller sent a pass from the left side of the ice to Marchment behind the Big Green goal, and Marchment fed Webster at the bottom of the left circle. Webster, who was all alone in front, one-timed a shot to the short side for her team-leading 18th goal of the year.
Webster's first goal, which was also assisted by Marchment and Miller, came off a wraparound shot that deflected off Dartmouth goaltender Robyn Chemago an into the net with less than a minute to play in the first period.
Dartmouth tied the game halfway through the second period, as Alyssa Baker one-timed a centering pass from Mackenzie St. Onge.
The win was the fifth in a row for the Saints, who defeated Harvard by an identical 2-1 score yesterday and swept the season series with Dartmouth.
"Another hard fought road victory for our team today," said head coach Chris Wells '92. "We had everybody digging deep to find a way and we were fortunate to get the two points. The games are going to be like this all the way in. Dartmouth did a great job negating any second efforts around the net and in the slot area to keep us from creating second chances."
Grace Harrison made 11 saves to earn her 20th victory of the season for the Saints. Her biggest save of the game came with just four minutes to play, as Devon Moir delivered a hard shot on a 3-on-2 rush, but Harrison was able to make the stop to keep the game tied, 1-1.
Chemago made 26 saves for Dartmouth, as the Saints held a 28-12 advantage in shots on goal.
The Saints (23-3-2 overall, 15-2-1 ECAC Hockey) are now just one point behind first-place Clarkson in the conference standings with four games remaining in the regular season. The Golden Knights tied Harvard, 2-2, on Saturday afternoon. Dartmouth fell to 5-19-0, 3-15-0.
St. Lawrence returns home to face Princeton and Quinnipiac, both ranked in the top 10 nationally, next weekend at Appleton Arena.
