The St. Lawrence University women's hockey team outshot Princeton University, 37-27, on Friday night in Princeton, NJ. However, the Tigers were back-stopped by Rachel Weber, who turned in a brilliant performance in net to shutout the Saints and give the Tigers a 4-0 conference victory.

The win moves Princeton, which swept the season series with St. Lawrence, to 11-10-1 (8-6-1). Meanwhile, the Saints fall to .500 on the season (12-12-2, 7-7-0) and will look to salvage a split tomorrow against Quinnipiac in Hamden, CT.

"Ironically, that was one of the best games we have played all season," said Head Coach Chris Wells. "Weber once again was able to make some head-scratching saves to keep us off the board. If we continue to play like we did tonight, we will start to see better results."

St. Lawrence owned an 8-7 advantage in shots during a scoreless first period, as Weber and Saint netminder Maxie Weisz each had a flawless opening stanza. However, despite being outshot 16-13 in the second, it was Princeton that would capitalize midway through the period to take a 1-0 lead. Charissa Stadnyk's first goal of the year came at 9:18 of the second, with an assist going to Corey Stearns, as the Tigers took control heading into the third period.

Weber continued to shine throughout the third period, as the Scarlet and Brown controlled the majority of the play and outshot the home team 13-7. However, Princeton used three goals in the final 8:00 minutes of the game to put it in the win column.

Heather Landry's fourth goal of the season put the Tigers on top 2-0 at 12:15 of the third period. The home team then pushed the lead to 3-0 on a power play empty net goal by Olivia Mucha with 1:20 left in regulation to seal the victory. Landry's second goal of the game came against Weisz with 13 seconds left to close out the scoring at 4-0.

Weisz closed with 23 saves including 12 in the second period. Princeton was 1-of-4 on the power play, while the Saints were 0-for-4.

St. Lawrence will face Quinnipiac tomorrow, Saturday, January 29 at 4:00pm.
