Canton, NY – Travis Schindler went 5-for-5 with a three-run homer as the Roos exploded for 16 hits in a 10-6 win v. Cazenovia College in SUNY Canton's home-opener on Thursday.

The Roos (5-16) got the scoring started in the first as a Trevor Keleher sacrifice fly scored Schindler. Canton added a pair of runs in the third on a Brandon Welch 2 RBI double to right field scoring Seth Douglas and Schindler. The hosts continued to roll offensively adding three runs in the fourth inning on a Schindler three run homer to left field scoring Nicolas Demarais and Edward Malinoski, Jr.

Canton added one run in the fifth as Demarais legged out an infield single plating Christian Nazario-Cruz. The hosts added a pair of runs in the sixth on a Douglas RBI triple and Welch RBI ground out.

Cazenovia (3-13) added six runs in the eighth and ninth innings but Canton added another run in the eighth on Keleher's second sacrifice fly of the contest to earn the convincing win.

Jake Vierno tossed a gem on the mound giving up just three hits and no runs with six strike out in seven innings of work. Zack Newman and Robbie Osterer threw one inning each in relief giving up two runs each.

Schindler was just a triple short of hitting for the cycle, while Douglas was a home run short of the same feat. Schindler improved his batting average to .429 on the season as he is 9-for-14 from the plate over his last three games.

The baseball team is back in action on Friday when it hosts Ithaca College in an Empire 8 Conference doubleheader at 2 p.m.
