The St. Lawrence University field hockey team was shut out by Vassar College, 5-0, in the team's annual Power of Pink game on Saturday afternoon on North Country Field.
With the loss, the Saints fall to 3-6 overall and 1-2 in the Liberty League, while the Brewers improve to 10-1 and remain unbeaten against conference opponents at 3-0.
Vassar opened the scoring in the 21st minute with leading-scorer Emily Poehlein's ninth of the season and added two more before half for a 3-0 lead through 35 minutes played.
Megan Caveny led the Brewers with a pair of goals, including the team's fourth early in the second half. Sam Plante closed out the scoring for the visitors in the 63rd minute.
The Saints were outshot 22-3 in the game, with two of those shots coming off the stick of senior forward Lucy Stillman. Isabel Thompson recorded the other.
St. Lawrence finished with three defensive saves against Vassar; one each for Melissa Grosshans, Lindsey Houseman and Anna Parker.
Sydney Giacin finished with six saves for the Saints.
St. Lawrence will host Wells College on Tuesday, October 9 at 4 p.m. for a non-conference game on North Country Field.
