Sophomore Kaleigh White rang a shot off the post in the 83rd minute on the Saints best scoring opportunity of the day, as they failed to find the equalizer and fell 1-0 to Vassar on Sandy MacAllaster Field.

"We created numerous chances but at the end of the day we just have to put them in," Head Coach Franco Bari said. "Unfortunately, Vassar did a good job of taking us off of our game."

The No. 21 Saints fall to 7-2-0 on the season and 0-2 against Liberty League opponents, while Vassar improves to 6-3-0 and 1-0 in conference play.

The Brewers netted the game winner in the 16th minute off a corner kick taken by Amanda McFarland. She played the ball to the far corner of the six where Jessica Schwed headed it down and Kamaria Coley finished on the ground inside the far post for the lead and the win.

The Saints finished with a 16-8 advantage in total shots, but shots on goal were even at five a piece.

White's chance late in the second half came after the Saints has reconfigured their lineup and had four players up front: White, Hannah Merriam, Katie Stames and senior Samantha Rock. Rock played a cross to White that opened her up on the far side about 15 yards from goal and the Middleton, Mass. native hit a hard shot across her body with a Vassar defender on her back, but hit the top of the near post.

St. Lawrence senior goalkeeper Kelsey West finished with four saves, while the Brewers keeper Emma Nichols stopped all five shots she faced.

"While the result today was not due to lack of effort, our focus will be to continue and keep composure and play hard for the full 90 minutes," Bari added.

The Saints will look for their first Liberty League win on Saturday against Bard, with game time scheduled for 2 p.m. on Sandy MacAllaster Field.
