(Machias, Maine)- Despite a tremendous game from Tony Valentin (Perth Amboy, N.J.) the SUNY Canton men’s basketball team dropped a close 86-80 decision to the University of Maine at Machias Friday night in Maine.
Valentin torched the Clippers for 38 points as he shot a blistering 16-for-22 from the field. He hit all four of his free throw attempts and also grabbed seven rebounds and dished out six assists.
The Roos out rebounded Machias by 16 (37-21) and shot a season-high 54 percent from the field.
Silvon John (Bronx, N.Y.) added 19 points and nine rebounds for the Roos (0-3 Sunrise Conference, 1-9 overall).
Zach Armstrong led four Machias players with 21 points and Will Lewis contributed 18 points and 10 assists.
