The St. Lawrence University volleyball team suffered a tough 3-1 (25-16, 25-19, 20-25, 25-23) loss against Liberty League opponent Union on Friday night in Schenectady, NY.

Union improves to 5-6 in league play with a 16-11 overall record. The Saints move to 6-4 in the conference (17-12 overall) and are among four other teams vying for a spot in the playoffs. Clarkson captured the regular season title with wins over Union and RIT, while Skidmore also claimed a spot in the playoffs. With wins against either RIT or Skidmore tomorrow, the Saints will have earned a spot in the playoffs. If the Saints sweep both of those teams, they will clinch the number two seed in the Liberty League tournament.

"Tonight was a disappointing performance," said St. Lawrence Head Coach Shelly Roiger. "We started the match with little energy and our ball control and defense was sporadic throughout the night. Union did a great job of being aggressive and finding our seams. They simply outplayed us and deserved the win. In order to make playoff we need to play with more pride and heart. If we can't do that, we don't deserve to be there."

The Skidmore match is scheduled to begin at 11:00am while the RIT match will begin at 1:30 pm.
