The St. Lawrence University women's soccer team lost its third straight game, falling to Union 1-0 in a Liberty League contest in Schenectady, NY on Saturday afternoon. The Saints, who move to 6-3-2 overall and 0-3 in the conference, will look to get back on track next weekend when they visit RIT for a 1pm match.
"While it took us a bit of time to get our momentum, we did apply a lot of pressure and created some close opportunities especially at the end of the game," said St. Lawrence head coach Franco Bari. "We asked the team to finish with a lot of heart and leave it on the field and they did just that."
Union's game-winner came in the 58th minute as Breana Derella hit a low shot from outside the box that eluded the St. Lawrence goalkeeper Kelsey West. The Dutchwomen finished with a 13-9 advantage in total shots while placing eight shots on net. The Saints held a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Allison Brustowicz earned the win in net for Union, stopping three shots in 90:00 minutes. Meanwhile, West suffered the loss despite a seven-save performance for the Saints.
