Johnson, VT – Fran Trombley (Dekalb Junction, NY) and Kaleigh Foran (Fort Ann, NY) scored goals for the Roos but SUNY Canton was unable to come back from an early deficit in a 6-2 loss to host Johnson State College on Wednesday.
The Badgers (6-2) were led in scoring by Maddison Prescott who tallied her second hat trick of the season. Johnson State got on the board first when Casey Hutchinson found the back of the net 20:16 in. Kylie Aither made it 2-0 a minute later before Hutchinson added her second of the game late in the 29th minute.
Trombley netted her fifth of the season off a pass from Kristina DiNardo (Ottawa, ON) three minutes before halftime to get the Roos within 3-1 at intermission.
Prescott made it 4-1 Johnson State on the kickoff out of the break. Foran responded with her fourth marker of the season to trim the deficit back to two goals but a pair of strikes from Prescott down the stretch helped the Badgers hang on for the win.
Liz Lynch (North Lawrence, NY) stopped eight shots in the loss for SUNY Canton (3-8), while Amber McCullock made eight saves in the win. DiNardo and Karyss Terrance (Hogansburg, NY) paced the Roos with three shots apiece on goal.
