Trio gain Liberty League weekly notice for Clarkson basketball squads

Senior Felix Llanos (Queens, NY) and freshman John Coleman (Potsdam, NY) of the Clarkson University Men's Basketball team and freshan Brooke Butkovsky (Monroe, CT) of the Clarkson University Women's Basketball team gained Liberty League Weekly honors on Monday.

Llanos, a senior guard, was chosen as a Liberty League Performer of the Week, averaging 16.5 points per contest over the course of two games last week. Llanos leads the conference in scoring (24.4 points) and 3-pointers (21) for the 4-1 Golden Knights. He is shooting 42 percent from beyond the 3-point arc (21-for-50) and is hitting 48.8 percent of his shots overall (41-84). He also has made a team-high 11 steals.

Coleman, a freshman forward, was picked as the Liberty League Rookie of the Week for the second time this season. Coleman is averaging 14.4 points and 8.8 rebounds per game. He leads the conference in offensive rebounding (5.0 orpg) and field-goal percentage (72.3%) and ranks second for Clarkson in assists with 19 overall (3.8 apg).

Butkovsky, a freshman forward, was also chosen as the Liberty League Rookie of the Week on the women's side as Clarkson went 2-1 on the week with victories over Potsdam and Morrisville before losing to Elmira on Sunday. Butkovsky missed the first two games of the season due to illness, but has quickly established herself as one of the top newcomers in the Liberty League, averaging 12.3 points and 9.8 rebounds per game. Butkovsky posted back-to-back double-doubles for the Knights, scoring 16 points with 17 rebounds against Morrisville and adding 11 points and 11 rebounds versus Elmira.
