POTSDAM, N.Y.—No. 1 SUNY Plattsburgh (24-1, 17-1 ECAC West) scored five power-play goals en route a 10-0 victory over the SUNY Potsdam women's hockey team (9-14-2, 4-13-1) on Saturday afternoon. Four Cardinals scored two goals on the day.

An early five-on-three power play gave the Bears momentum midway through the opening period and they were able to generate several quality chances. However, Plattsburgh killed off the penalties and scored two goals in the final 2:15. Junior forward Melissa Ames (Rochester, N.Y./Pittsburgh Penguins Elite) got Plattsburgh on the board at 17:45 with a power-play tally and freshman forward Karen Hudson (Sykesville, Md./Glenel) made 2-0 it 1:16 later.

The Cardinals broke the game open with five goals in the second period. Freshman forward Courtney Moriarty (Estero, Fla./Northfield Mt. Hermon) scored two in a row at 1:12 and 8:00, the second coming on the man advantage. Senior forward Giovanna Senese (Huntley, Ill./Chicago Mission) followed suit with another two goals in a row. Senese notched a power-play goal at 9:00 and an even-strength marker at 16:45. Freshman Ashley Songin (Springhill, N.Y./Nichols School) struck at 18:03 to send Plattsburgh into the second intermission with a 7-0 advantage.

Songin then opened the scoring in the third period with a power-play goal at 2:30. Junior forward Jordan Lipson (Davis, Calif./Pomfret Prep) tacked on two more to give the Cardinals the 10-0 final. Lipson netted Plattsburgh's fifth power-play goal at 4:23 and got her second goal at 17:40.

Senior assistant captain Abby Tardelli (Potsdam, N.Y./North Country Ice Storm) finished her Bears' career with 42 saves. Plattsburgh junior goalie Camille Leonard (Oakville, Ontario/Oakville Jr. Hornets) stopped all 20 shots for her 12th shutout of the season.

The contest brings a close the careers of seniors Tardelli, Katie Marsman (Wantagh, N.Y./Wyoming Seminary), Alison Greene (Massena, N.Y./Norwich University), Emily Kriwox (Tupper Lake, N.Y./Tupper Lake), Rachel Grefke (Livonia, Mich./Victory Honda) and captain Sally Mooney (Columbus, Ohio/Wyoming Seminary).
