Truxton, NY - Junior JP Phaneuf (Montreal, QUE) and freshman Christian Perryman (West Lebanon, MI) tied for first in the giant slalom, finishing the race in 1:20.48 while trading first-place showings in each run, as the Clarkson University Alpine Ski team won both the men's and women's giant slalom events Saturday afteroon at the Hamilton Invitational, held at Labrador Mountain.

Both the Golden Knights' men's and women's team claimed the top spot among seven teams, and will ski again on Sunday in the slalom.

Phaneuf and Perryman tied for first, making it an easy victory for the Knights on the men's side. Junior Cedrik Proteau-Dubois (Ste. Adele, QUE) wasn't far behind in third place, finishing just a half second behind the winners. Coming in fourth was sophomore David Simon (Montvale, NJ) in 1:21.28, and junior John Bennett (Queensbury, NY) took seventh in 1:23.21.

For the women, Sophie LeBlanc (Cumberland, ME) and Jill Clevenger (LaGrangeville, NY) also each took first place in one individual run, but it was LeBlanc who just topped her classmate with a time of 1:24.32 for the overall win in the giant slalom. Clevenger came in second in 1:24.41, and senior Megan Cleason (Canandaigua, NY) finished third in 1:25.15. Freshman Sara Shafer (Petoskey, MI) placed ninth for the women.
