First-year Kaleigh White tallied her fifth and sixth goals of the year, and the St. Lawrence women's soccer team scored three unanswered goals en route to a 3-1 come-from-behind win over NESCAC powerhouse Middlebury on Tuesday afternoon in Middlebury, Vt. It was the first meeting between the two teams since 1999.

"The team rebounded from the weekend quite well," Head Coach Franco Bari said. "Middlebury was a very dangerous attacking team and while it took some time to adjust, we fired right back, settled down and played our game. Kaleigh [White] really added a spark today."

Middlebury opened the scoring in the seventh minute when they capitalized on a Saints defensive miscue, but after White tallied her first of the day in the 35th minute it was all St. Lawrence from then on out.

Fellow first-year Hannah Merriam set up White's first goal with a brilliantly placed through ball. White ran past a Panthers defender and hit a hard diagonal shot from just inside the box that snuck past the outstretched hands of Middlebury keeper Emily Eslinger and inside the far post to tie the score at one all.

Just over four minutes later, White connected for her second of the day and her team-leading sixth of the year on a left-footed shot that rang off the post and in behind Eslinger to give the Saints the lead, 2-1 headed into halftime.

Early in the second, sophomore Lindsay Geier was hauled down 30 yards from the Middlebury goal setting up a free kick for the Saints. Caroline Crandall tapped the ball forward to Emily DePoy who blasted a shot into the top right corner to put her team in front 3-1.

Prior to today's contest, the Panthers had not allowed a goal in the last three games and had only conceded three goals to a team one other time this season. The Saints hadn't scored more than a goal since a 5-1 win over Oswego on Sept. 17.

In addition to offensive firepower, the Saints back line did its to part to thwart the Middlebury attack and junior goalkeeper Kelsey West tied her season high with six saves on the day. Eslinger finished with two saves for the Panthers.

With the win, St. Lawrence improves to 8-4 on the year, while Middlebury falls to 6-4.
