Canton, NY – Mouhammed Thiam turned aside seven shots keeping the SUNY Canton men's soccer team in the game throughout but a 33rd minute goal from Jovani Guzman proved to be the difference as Berkeley College earned a 1-0 win on Saturday afternoon.

Thiam had a strong start to the game making numerous one-on-one saves to keep the game scoreless over the first 32 minutes.

Berkeley broke through in the 33rd minute when Guzman turned and found Omario Rosen in the midfield as he delivered a perfect through ball to Meshema Charles. Thiam came charging out as Charles placed a shot just inside the left post for the lead.

The Roos trailed 1-0 at intermission as five first half saves from Thiam kept Canton within one.

Canton had a great chance to knot the game at one with 26:30 remaining when an Ellis Sanchez shot went just over the top of the crossbar.

Thiam made seven stops for the Roos (3-5-1), while Osvin Videz-Vasquez turned aside two shots for the Knights (3-3-0). Hector Martinez led the Roos with two shots on goal.

The men's soccer team is back in action on Wednesday when it visits Cazenovia College at 3 p.m.
