Canton, NY – Karyss Terrance (Hogansburg, NY) had a break-out performance having a hand in all four SUNY Canton goals as the Roos defeated visiting Green Mountain College, 4-3 in overtime, Wednesday evening.
The hosts got the scoring started first just four minutes in when Terrance played a centering pass to Fran Trombley (Dekalb Junction) who beat the keeper for her fourth of the season. Neither team would find the back of the net the remainder of the period as the Roos took a 1-0 lead into intermission.
Defensive breakdowns proved costly early on in the first half as the Eagles (0-2) scored three consecutive goals, the latter two coming off the foot of Maegan Laymon. With Green Mountain leading 3-1 12 minutes into the second stanza the Roos continued to fight.

At the 73:55 mark Kaleigh Foran (Fort Ann, NY) played a ball on the left side of the field to Terrance who volleyed it down and struck a ball into the upper right corner of goal to get SUNY Canton within 3-2. Just less than 10 minutes later Terrance made another opportunity count as she delivered off a set piece. The junior took a direct kick from 24 yards out and drilled it in the upper 90 to knot the score at three apiece.

Laymon had a one-on-one chance with time winding down under four minutes to play in regulation but Roo keeper Liz Lynch (North Lawrence, NY) came out and forced Laymon's shot to sail wide. Kristina DiNardo produced a chance of her own in the final 90 seconds but Eagle goalie Kim Simonetti was up for the challenge.

In the eighth minute of overtime the Roos drew their fourth corner kick of the extra session and it paid off. Terrance delivered a ball into the box roughly eight yards out and Foran redirected it with her foot through traffic into the left side netting as the Roos ran onto the field in celebration.

SUNY Canton held advantages of 13-9 in shots on goal and 8-3 in corner kicks in the contest. Lynch and Simonetti both turned aside nine shots apiece on the evening.
