Canton, NY – Karyss Terrance (Hogansburg, NY) scored the lone Roo goal as the women's soccer team dropped an 8-1 decision to visiting D'Youville College on Saturday.
Both teams got off to slow starts as the teams played the first 30 minutes of play scoreless before Kiernan Johnson broke through for D'Youville early in the 32nd minute. The Spartans took a 1-0 lead into intermission.
D'Youville scored three straight goals in a 10 minute span early in the second half to take a commanding 4-0 lead. Terrance netted her fifth goal of the season off a nice pass from Katie Lamica (Malone, NY) to get within 4-1. However, the visitors tacked on four more tallies for the 8-1 final.
Bernadette O'Connell (Buffalo, NY) made her first start in net on the season stopping six shots. Morgan Price made five saves in the win for D'Youville. The women's soccer team returns to the pitch on Wednesday at 6 p.m. when it hosts SUNY Potsdam in the annual Boyd Jones Cup.
