Terrance Leads Roos women's hoops with 22 points in road tilt at Cazenovia

Cazenovia, NY – Senior Karyss Terrance (Hogansburg, NY) led the Roos with 22 points on 9-for-15 shooting but the SUNY Canton women's basketball team dropped an 86-65 decision to host Cazenovia College on Tuesday evening.

The Wildcats (5-11) jumped out to a quick 27-16 start following the first quarter and led 41-31 at intermission. The Roos (6-12) battled back to outscore Cazenovia 15-14 in the second quarter. Terrance led all players with 12 points in the opening 20 minutes of action.

SUNY Canton got the deficit within four points on three different occasions in the third quarter after a three-pointer from Brianna Sayer (Hermon, NY) and baskets from Terrance and Logan Tallman (Heuvelton, NY), but were unable to get any closer the remainder of the way. The Wildcats held a double digit lead throughout the fourth quarter en route to the victory.

Terrance led the Roos with 22 points to go with six rebounds, two blocks and two steals. Caselynn Fulton (Saint Cloud, MN) chipped in with 14 points and seven rebounds on 50 percent shooting. Sayer totaled 11 points, six rebounds and three assists, while Tatiana Laroche (Elmont, NY) chipped in 12 points and eight boards.

Both teams shot the ball better than 40 percent from the field and behind the three-point line. The Roos held a 45-38 edge on the glass, while the Wildcats bench outscored the SUNY Canton reserves, 32-14. Skyler Girard paced Cazenovia with a game-high 23 points, while Autumn Gavin (15), Kelli Shepardson (14), D'Andrea Watson (13) and Megan Plahanski (10) all scored in double figures.

The women's basketball team will visit Alfred State College on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
