Mary Terhune finished in third place, and the 20th-ranked St. Lawrence University women's cross country team placed four runners in the top-five scoring positions to easily win the 27th Annual Ronald C. Hoffmann Invitational at St. Lawrence on Saturday afternoon.
Terhune finished the six-kilometer Ronald C. Hoffmann cross country course in 23 minutes, 3.29 seconds, an average pace of 6:11.1 per mile. She was 16.38 seconds behind the individual winner, Jenna Van Vliet of Carleton University. The University of Ottawa's Rebecca Brennan was in second place, 2.7 seconds behind Van Vliet; neither of the Canadian universities fielded a complete team, so both of the top-two finishers were competing as individuals.
St. Lawrence totaled just 19 points to easily win the six-team meet, with the Saints' top-five runners separated by just 31 seconds. Clarkson was second with 55, and SUNY Plattsburgh was third with 70. Norwich, coached by former St. Lawrence cross country runner and assistant coach Seth Jackson '12, finished fourth with 118 points.
