Telesca and Brown Sweep Sprint Freestyle Events for Knights Against Utica

Potsdam, NY - Seniors Jillian Brown (Kenmore, NY) and Kimberlee Stillittano (Binghamton, NY) and junior Abby Luber (Camillus, NY) each won a pair of events for the Clarkson University Swim team as the Golden Knights cruised to a pair of dual meet victories against Utica College on Saturday afternoon at Fuller Pool.

The Golden Knights' men claimed a 125-37 victory over the Pioneers and the women won 117-93.

For the men, Paul Telesca (Liverpool, NY) won the 50 freestyle (24.89 seconds) and 100 freestyle (55.34), and junior Tyler Nichols (Spencerport, NY) also won a pair of events, including the 100 backstroke (1:05.24) and the 100 breaststroke (1:14.58), but his time in the latter event was counted purely as an exhibition. The same went for freshman Sam Zagrobelny (East Aurora, NY), who won the 100 butterfly (1:03.01) and 400 freestyle (4:35.48), with the freestyle race coming as an exhibition.

Also claiming victories for the Knights were Sean Parnett (Clifton Park, NY) in the 800 freestyle (9:20.67), Ray Bailey (Galway, NY) in the 200 freestyle (2:09.44) and Chris Plummer (Spencerport, NY) in the 200 individual medley (2:29.23). Clarkson's 400 medley relay team also took first as a non-exhibition, with Nichols, Plummer, Nick Short (Endwell, NY) and Telesca leading the way in 4:16.49.

On the women's side, Brown won the 100 freestyle (1:04.98) and 200 freestyle (2:23.55) events and Luber claimed the top spot in the 50 freestyle (31.47) and the 200 backstroke (1:19.53). Stillittano won a pair of specialty events, taking first in the 100 butterfly (1:17.60) and the 200 individual medley (2:45.04). Also winning individual events were Colleen Daly (Manlius, NY) in the 800 freestyle (10:40.46) and Kelly Mulvehill (Penfield, NY) in the 400 freestyle (5:10.83).
