Swimming and Diving splits Bears at Saint Michael's

COLCHESTER, VT.—The SUNY Potsdam swimming and diving teams split a dual meet at Saint Michael's College on Saturday afternoon. The men downed the Purple Knights 123-110 and the women fell 120-85

Sophomore Dan Costa, freshman Tyler Zapisek and Junior Richie Zimmerman were each triple winners for the men. Costa captured the 50 and 100 freestyle events in with times of 0:23.08 and 0:50.88 for solo victories. He also joined senior Ed Smith, Zapisek and senior Alexander Taylor on the winning 400 freestyle relay team, which posted a time of 3:33.3. Zapisek swam to individual victories in the 400 IM and 200 butterfly in times of 4:42.69 and 2:10.23. Zimmerman notched two solo wins in the 1000 freestyle (10:34.41) and 200 backstroke (2:06.79). Zimmerman was also on the winning 400 medley relay team (3:58.05) with freshman Chris Carlini, senior Marcus Domfort and Taylor. Domfort also captured the 200 freestyle in 1:55.5.

Sophomore Victoria Blakeslee led the women with two individual victories and a relay win. She swam to first place finishes in the 1000 (11:39.8) and 500 freestyle (5:41.4) events and joined sophomore Emily Kanoza and seniors Kylie Barr and Liz Ringer on the first place 400 freestyle relay team (3:58.3). Barr also won the 400 IM (5:15.06) and Ringer captured the 200 butterfly (2:27.56)

The Bears wrap of the regular season next weekend as they host Oswego State on Saturday, Feb. 2 at 2 p.m.
