POTSDAM, N.Y.—Ithaca College (4-0) opened the game on a 14-0 run and never looked back en route to a 66-26 victory over the SUNY Potsdam women’s basketball team (2-2). Bomber senior guard Jessica Farley had a game-high 17 points and sophomore forward Jenn Escobido contributed 15 points.

Hot shooting and strong defense gave Ithaca an early 14-0 lead and the Bombers held Potsdam to without a field goal until Bears junior guard Katy Briedis hit a three-pointer at the 9:25 mark. Ithaca continued its strong play and led 32-7 at the half.

The Bears were better in the final 20 minutes, scoring 19 of their 26 points, but couldn’t catch the Bombers. Ithaca had an answer for every Potsdam basket and free throw and closed out the 66-26 victory.

Bears sophomore forward Jessica Kouzan had a team-high six points. Senior forward Sophie Parks and Briedis each finished with five points for Potsdam. Junior forward Adedoyin Akingba had a game-high seven rebounds.

“They punched us in the mouth and we didn’t respond to it,” said Bears Head Coach Tara Ruckh. “We had 15 turnovers in the first half and 26 for the game. We can’t play that way. We’ve got to do a lot of things better. It’s a wake up call. We’re not going to play like that again, because we have enough fire not to let that happen again.”

Potsdam is back in action on Tuesday night, when they head across town to take on Clarkson at 6 p.m.
