UTICA -- The SUNY Potsdam men and women’s cross country teams competed at the SUNYIT Invitational Saturday.
The women’s team ran to a fifth place finish led by senior Hollie Heimer (Chesapeake, Va./West Branch).
The men finished 13th. Sophomore John Stone (Norwood, N.Y./Norwood-Norfolk) led the Bears 6K effort with a time of 23:13. Brett Wunsch (Colonie, N.Y./Colonie Central) followed with a time of 25:56.
Sophomores John Doane (Camden, N.Y./Camden) and Adam Lang (Arkport, N.Y./Arkport) crossed the line at 26:21 and 26:48 to finish out the top four for the Bears.
In the women’s 5K race, Heimer was the top Potsdam runner with a second place finish with a time of 20:01.
Freshman Hannah Groshner (Wayland, N.Y./Wayland-Cohocton) crossed the line at the 22:17 mark to place 16th. Olivia Rehm (Grahamsville, N.Y./Tri-Valley) ran a 23:42 time and Carla Furguglietto (Garnersville, N.Y./North Rockland) posted a 24:19 mark to round out the top four.
The Bears return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 5 at the Paul Smith’s Quad Meet.
