POTSDAM, N.Y. – This week, the SUNY Potsdam softball team will be teaming up with members of the student body to promote National Eating Disorder Awareness Week.

Members of the team will be manning a table in the Student Union and participating in Operation Beautiful Wednesday from 12 p.m.-1 p.m. and Thursday from 11 a.m. - noon. Operation Beautiful is a positive thinking initiative where people place Post-it notes with complimentary statements in random places for others to find.

“I think there is a lot of negative thinking and even bullying among people now a days,” said Bears' senior captain Heather Johnson. “This is a cause that is close to our team and it is a nice opportunity for us to get people to start thinking positively.”

The Bears open up the 2013 season with a doubleheader against the Lyndon State Hornets on Friday, March 1, at the Adirondack Sports Complex Dome in Queensbury, N.Y. The first pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
