POTSDAM – SUNY Potsdam is preparing for its 22nd annual Scholarship Golf Classic, an event designed to increase awareness and funding for student scholarships, which will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 8, at the Potsdam Town and Country Club.
The golf format is a shotgun start at 10 a.m., with a six-person scramble that includes three flights for men and one for women, to be determined by total team handicap. Golfers are encouraged to form their own sixsomes, and golfers of all abilities and handicaps are encouraged to participate.
Team prizes will be awarded in each flight, and prizes will be given for many contests on the course. Special contests also will take place, which could mean major prizes for a talented or lucky golfer.
The silent auction, one of the highlights of the day, will be held immediately following the tournament, around 5 p.m. The auction includes sports merchandise, technology, artwork, gift certificates, golf equipment and several other unique and in-demand items. All proceeds will benefit SUNY Potsdam’s Scholarship Fund.
Registration is $125 per person and includes a scholarship gift, 18 holes of golf, cart, lunch, refreshments, door prizes, a banquet dinner and course and team prizes. Teams will be accepted on a first- come, first-served basis. Pre-registration is necessary for all golfers. Early registration is strongly encouraged. The deadline for registration is Friday, Aug. 6.
