SUNY Potsdam senior men's lacrosse goalie Ryan Duffy (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) and volleyball setter/right side Jenna Blujus (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) were named the Maxcy/Molnar award winners for the 2013-14 season at the annual Maxcy Awards Banquet this evening.

All seniors, most valuable players and coaches award winners from each of the Bears' 16 varsity programs were also honored during the event.

For just the second year, several Potsdam teams and student-athletes were honored with the Maxcy Awards in such categories as Newcomer of the Year, Community Service, Academic Team Award and Most Improved team.

The Maxcy/Molnar award is presented to one male and one female student-athlete who best combine the qualities of sportsmanship, leadership, scholarship and athletic achievement. Only senior student-athletes who compete in at least one sport for their entire undergraduate career are eligible to receive the award.

Duffy was named the SUNYAC men's lacrosse Player of the Year to become the third such player in Bears' program history to be bestowed with the honor. He was a regular winner of the SUNYAC Goalie of the Week award as he captured the honor five times this season. Duffy recorded a .659 save percentage, placing him first in the conference and third in the nation. He was second in the SUNYAC with a 7.70 goals-against-average and finished with 211 saves. Despite playing just two seasons with Potsdam, Duffy finishes his career 10th on the Bears all-time saves list with 232 stops.

Blujus became an All-SUNYAC First Team selection for the third straight season and cemented her legacy as one of the all-time best in Bears' volleyball history. She is the only Bear to accomplish the feat. Blujus' 2,808 career assists and 257 aces make her the all-time program leader in both categories. She demonstrated her all-around ability by ranking first on the team in aces with 72 and second on the team in assists (386), kills (217), and digs (391) to guide the Bears to consecutive postseason appearances. Blujus was also sixth in hitting percentage (.257), and first in service aces per set (.65) in the conference.

Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) selected 20th-year men's lacrosse head coach Rick Berkman as the Coach of the Year.
