Fredonia, NY – The SUNY Canton women's volleyball team closed out the non-conference portion of its schedule dropping a pair of matches on Saturday at the Fredonia Tournament.
The Roos fell 3-0 (13-25, 14-25, 20-25) to host Fredonia in the opener before dropping a five-set match to Houghton 3-2 (25-20, 21-25, 23-25, 25-23, 11-15).
Match 1
The Roos fell in straight sets to host Fredonia in the opener. Peyton Nadeau and Marissa Ixtlahuac led the offense with five kills each. The five putdowns are a new career-high for Nadeau. Peyton Robinson dished out 18 assists and added nine digs, while Sydney Uthe tallied eight digs.
Match 2
SUNY Canton jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the second match but Houghton earned victories in the second and third sets. The Roos pulled out a 25-23 victory in the fourth to force a decisive fifth set but the Highlanders survived, 15-11, for the victory.
Marissa Ixtlahuac led the Roos with 15 kills hitting .300 (15-3-40), while Tatum Lafrance, Skye Hansen and Melissa McMaster all finished with nine kills each. Robinson assisted 43 kills and added 16 digs, while Jenna Roat chipped in 18 digs defensively.
The Roos open North Atlantic Conference play on Friday when they take on Maine Presque Isle at NVU-Johnson at 12 p.m.
