Oneonta, NY – Freshman Allison Wakefield (Mastic, NY) made 15 saves but three second half goals from host Hartwick College gave them a 4-0 win against the SUNY Canton women's soccer team on Tuesday evening.
The Hawks (6-3-1) got on the board first in the sixth minute when Allie Ricci fed Rachel Pine for her first goal of the season. Hartwick led 1-0 at intermission as Wakefield made nine big first half saves to keep the game in striking distance. Victoria Bean (Essex Junction, VT) had the lone shot on goal for Canton in the opening 45 minutes.
Ricci was on the scoring end for the Hawks in the 51st minute and Casey Boucher and Jacqueline Smith added goals in the 54th and 62nd minutes for the 4-0 final.
Wakefield made 15 total stops on the night for the Roos (3-8-1), while Megan McGillycuddy turned aside the only shot she faced for Hartwick.
