Canton, NY – Cait Gagen scored once and assisted another goal as the SUNY Canton women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to visiting Plattsburgh State on Tuesday evening.

Plattsburgh (12-4-2) opened the scoring in the 29th minute when Rachel Moran found the back of the net for her third goal of the season. Cait Gagen earned an assist on the play. The Cardinals took a 1-0 lead into intermission as they held advantages in shots (11-0) and shots on goal (5-0), but four saves from Allison Wakefield kept the Roos within one.

The Cardinals doubled their lead 2:40 out of intermission when Sarah Bonner played a beautiful ball up the right side to Gagen. She cut back from right to left and placed the ball into the net past a charging Wakefield.

Victoria Bean and Kassey Northrop registered shots on goal for Canton (5-11-0) in the second half.

Plattsburgh added a late insurance goal in the 84th minute when Sarah Stietzle found Lisa Bueche down the right side. She played a beautiful cross into the middle where Katie Ogden finished her first goal of the season.

Wakefield turned aside six shots for the Roos, while Taylor Adams made two saves in the second half and Nichole Gibson earned the win without facing a shot in the first half.

The women's soccer team has more than a week off as it takes on Mills College (CA) in the American Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA) Semifinals on Saturday, November 4th at 2 PM. The Tournament is hosted by the University of Valley Forge.
