Oswego, NY – The No. 7 Oswego State women's hockey team scored five second period goals on its way to a 10-0 victory on Friday evening at the Marano Campus Center Arena.
Olivia Ellis scored her sixth goal of the season just 1:11 into the opening period off the set up from Alexa Aramburu. The Lakers doubled their lead 2:40 later when Monica Cramer found Madison Byrne who lit the lamp for the first time on the season.
Oswego State exploded for five goals in the middle period as Alexa Aramburu scored twice and Olivia Nellis, Eryn Stewart and Laura Thacker each found the back of the net once. The Lakers scored three of their five second period goals on the power play as they led 7-0 after two.
The Lakers tacked on three goals over the final 20 minutes for the 10-0 final. Oswego State went 4-for-5 on the power play in the contest, while their penalty kill unit was a perfect 3-for-3.
Brooke Susac (Bowmanville, ON) made 20 saves over the first 30:48, while Illie Berisha (Lake Ariel, PA) turned aside 11 shots over the final 29:12. Mariah Madrigal turned aside all eight shots she faced in the shutout for Oswego.
These two teams will have a 3 p.m. rematch on Saturday in Oswego.
