RANDOLPH CENTER, Vt. -- Junior forward Kaitlin Myers (Dannemora, N.Y.) and freshman forward Elissa St. Germain (Ogdenburg, N.Y.) each turned in a double-double performance leading the SUNY Canton women’s basketball team past Vermont Technical College 55-35 Sunday.
Myers pumped in four 3-pointers and had 16 points and 14 rebounds and St. Germain sank 8 of 9 free throws to finish with 16 points and 10 boards. The Roos (5-13) raced out to a commanding 31-15 halftime lead and held the Green Knights to just 20 percent shooting from the floor.
Junior forward Jackie Sedlacek (Endicott, N.Y.) added six points and five rebounds and freshman guard Tricia Boland (Hammond, N.Y.) chipped in with five points and six caroms.
Kelly Vellek led Vermont Tech (4-10) with 15 points and three steals and Ama Baker added 11 points and eight rebounds.
SUNY Canton returns to Vermont on Sunday, Feb. 5 when they play at the College of St. Joseph starting at 1 p.m.
