AURORA -- The SUNY Canton women’s basketball team shot their way to a 64-54 win over Wells College Sunday afternoon in Aurora.

The Roos improved to 4-3 overall as they won for the third time in their last four games.

SUNY Canton fell behind early 10-5, but countered with a 13-0 run, seven of those points coming from junior Alicia Uhlein (Watertown, N.Y.) who dropped in a game-high 20 points. SUNY Canton held the home team to just seven points over the final 13:26 of the half and built a 35-17 lead at the break.

The Roos lead was trimmed to six points with just under 11 minutes left in regulation, but that’s as close as the Express would come. The Roos perimeter shooting proved to be the difference as SUNY Canton tied their season-high shooting 9-for-18 from three-point range.

Uhelin was 8-for-13 from the field and added four rebounds and four assists. Sophomore Tricia Boland (Hammond, N.Y.) fired in five 3-pointers and finished with 15 points and five rebounds. Senior Kaitlin Myers (Dannemora, N.Y.) added 12 points and nine boards and junior Joelle Percy (Black River, N.Y.) nailed three threes and scored 10 points.

Ashley Roser led the Express with 17 points and 13 rebounds and Holli Erkson added 14 points and seven boards.

The Roos hit the road this weekend for a pair of games in Massachusetts starting on Saturday, Dec. 8 when they play at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. The Roos also face Fisher College on Sunday, Dec.
